Frequently Asked Questions

When is The Rainbow Run on?

The Rainbow Run event is taking place on Saturday 16th September at 2pm starting at the Old   Dun Laoghaire Ferry Terminal and taking place along the West Pier!

Do I need to be a fit runner to do this?

NOT AT ALL! The Rainbow Run event is all about having fun and finishing the run looking colourful! You can run, walk, crawl or even skip over the finish line!

What is included with my The Rainbow Run registration?

All Rainbow Runners will receive a sachet of powder colour, Rainbow Run sun glasses and their race bib. Your race packets will NOT be mailed to you, these will be collected at a location in Dublin announced closer to the time!

Sorry NO DOGS allowed.

Is there an age limit for younger runners?

No age limits. If they enjoy running or walking, they can absolutely do The Rainbow Run! We do however advise that children under the age of 12 be accompanied by an adult to participate. Also note that children under the age of 7 can participate for free but they must be registered and run with a paid adult. There must be one adult per under 7 year old at all times, if there are two 7 year olds that makes two adults.

Is there a packet pick up for the event?

To avoid all queuing on the day you must register in a location in Dun Laoghaire and pick up your race pack. This location will be emailed to you 3 days prior the event. If you are travelling on the day to The Rainbow Run you can register on the day but you will have to queue up, so we advise pre registering.

What do I wear on the day of the race?

We really try to ensure that all participants wear as much white as possible during The Rainbow Run. This will ensure that all runners will look like Rainbows at the end of the race! If you can’t get all white clothing then as long as you wear white t-shirts you will be fine.

Will the powdered colour damage me? Will I be hurt?

No, it is not dangerous at all; it is like being in a fun colourful flour fight! We are 100% sure that you will not be hurt; all our staff are trained to throw colour powder playfully!

Will the colour powder ruin clothes, hair or running shoes?

The colour powder we use is non-toxic and totally natural and it will mostly dissolve and wash out of clothes. The sooner you wash it though the better, we suggest wearing items that you wouldn\’t mind getting colourful.

tagthe color affect the inside of cars? The powder should not badly affect the inside of a car but we would advise you to bring a towel to sit on in your car just to make sure.

Is there a drop off bag area?

Unfortunately not, due to safety regulations we can not provide the space needed for a drop off bag area!

Can spectators attend the post-race party?

Only participants who purchased a ticket will be aloud into the event, all spectators can view this incredible site on the west pier. This is a sell out event and only a limited amount of people are aloud in, this is for crowd control!!

Are cameras and phones safe to have in the colour zones?

Rainbow Run photographers will be put in force on the day and you will be able to purchase pictures online. If you are bringing your own camera we would suggest you cover your camera in some plastic just to make sure it doesn\’t get damaged and you don\’t end up with a rainbow coloured camera!

Is The Rainbow Run timed?

The Rainbow Run is not a timed event but it is the most fun run in Ireland! Rainbow Runners/Walkers are there to have fun, not to worry about how fast they are running each km. So take your time, your not against the clock! You can of course always time yourself if you want to.

How do the post-race colour throws work?

At the post-race party we will be blasting out amazing 80\’s classics and there will be colour bombs welcoming new runners crossing the finish line. We provide one sachet of colour to each participant at check-in and more can be purchased at check-in or at the finish of the run if desired.

Are there refunds?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds and all Rainbow Run tickets are non-transferrable.

Can I change the name on my ticket?

Unfortunately all Rainbow Run tickets are non-transferrable.

The Rainbow Run is for Families of all ages. Kids under 7 years of age on 20th June run for free but they must purchase a FREE ticket and be accompanied by a paid adult at the event. There must be one adult for every 7 year old so if you have two 7 year olds they must be accompanied by two paid adults.

Can I buy a ticket and register on the day of the Event?

If there are tickets left, this might be a sell out event and all tickets may be gone. But if there are tickets left you can purchase these on the day.

What happens at the finish line?

This is when we have the most fun, not only will there be great tunes playing, but every 15 minutes all finishers will grab their Colour bombs and fire it at each other! You can also greet your family & friends at this point and tell them how much fun you had or maybe even get them to join in?

Can I change my ticket to another rainbow run event?

If you have bought a ticket to The Rainbow Run unfortunately you cannot change this ticket for another timed event.
